Chapter 2

My little children, I write these things to you so that you won’t sin. And if some do sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, the righteous Jesus Christ. 2He is the satisfaction for our sins, not just ours alone, but the whole world. 3This is how we know that we know Him, we keep His commandments. 4Whoever says, “I know Him,” but doesn’t keep His commandments is a liar and there is no truth with him. 5But whoever keeps His word, certainly God’s Love has been completed in him. This is how we know that we are in Him. 6Whoever says that he lives in Him should walk just like He walked.

7Beloved, I don’t write a new commandment to y’all, but an old commandment which you’ve had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you’ve heard. 8But I am writing a new commandment to y’all, that is true in Him and in you, that the darkness is going away and the True Light already shines. 9Whoever says he’s in the Light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now. 10Whoever loves his brother lives in the Light and there is no reason for him to stumble. 11But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness and he doesn’t know where he’s walking because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

12I’m writing to you, little children, because your sins have been taken away through His name. 13I’m writing to you, fathers, because you have known the One who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have conquered evil. 14I wrote to you, little children, because you have known the Father. I wrote to you, fathers, because you have known the One who’s from the beginning. I wrote to you, young men, because you are strong, and God’s Word lives in you and you have conquered evil.

15Don’t love the world, or the things in the world. If someone loves the world, then the Father’s Love isn’t in him. 16Because everything in the world, the want of the flesh, the want of the eyes, and the pride of life, doesn’t come from the Father, but from the world. 17The world and it’s desires are passing away, but whoever does God’s Will lives forever.

18Little children, it is the last hour! Just as you’ve heard that the antichrist is coming, now many antichrists have come! This is how we know it’s the last hour! 19They went out from us but they weren’t from us, because if they were from us, they would’ve stayed with us. But they did leave us, and that shows they aren’t from us. 20And you, you all know you have an anointing from the Holy One. 21I didn’t write to y’all because you don’t know the Truth, but because you do know it and because there is no lie in the Truth. 22Who is the liar if not the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, who denies the Father and the Son 23Anybody who denies the Son doesn’t have the Father. Anybody who confesses the Son has the Father. 24Let what you’ve heard in the beginning live in all of you. If what you heard in the beginning lives in you, then y'all will live in the Son and in the Father, 25and this is His promise to us: eternal life.

26I write these things to y’all about the one deceiving you. 27As for y’all, the anointing that you received from Him lives in you, and y’all don’t need anyone to teach you. But just as His anointing teaches all of you about all things, and it’s true and not a lie, and just as He taught you, you live in Him. 28And now, little children, live in Him, so that when He is shown we’ll have boldness and not be ashamed in front of Him at His coming. 29If y’all know He’s righteous, then you know that everyone that does righteousness is born from Him.
