Chapter 28

After the Sabbath, in the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to watch the tomb. 2And look! There was a great earthquake, and an angel of the Lord came out of Heaven and went and rolled the stone away and sat on it. 3His appearance was like lightning and his clothes were as white as snow. 4The guards shook in fear of him and became like dead men. 5The angel said to the women, “Don’t be afraid. I know you’re looking for Jesus who was crucified. 6He isn’t here. Because just as He said, He was raised. Come, look at the place where He was laying. 7Then go quickly and tell His disciples that He was raised from the dead. And look! He’s going before you into Galilee. You’ll find Him there. See, I told you.” 8They ran quickly from the grave with a lot of fear and joy and they ran to tell His disciples. 9Jesus met them and said, “Rejoice!” They came to Him, grabbed His feet and worshiped Him. 10Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Go and tell My brothers to go to Galilee and they will find Me there.

11While they were on their way, some of the guard went to the chief priests in the city and told them what happened. 12The chief priests assembled with the elders and decided to give the guards a lot of money 13and told them, “Say that his disciples came in the night and stole the body while we were sleeping. 14If the Governor hears about this, we will persuade him and keep you out of trouble.” 15They took the money and did as they were told. And this lie is still told among the Jews even to this day.

16The eleven disciples went to Galilee and to the hill that Jesus told them to go to, 17and when they saw Him, they worshiped Him. But some doubted. 18Jesus came and said, “All authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19Go out and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to keep all the commandments I gave to you.

And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
